About Me
I have been a digital scrapbooker before I knew there was such a thing. Starting in 2000, I was taking my digital photos from my "1 MegaPx" camera and making very crude page layouts. I used a program that doesn't even exist now. I purchased PSE 1 and started learning. I started to discover a few online digital scrapbook sites online. I even found the first "digital arts and pc crafts" conference that was in Philadelphia in 2000. I couldn't get there fast enough. The conference was half "pc crafts" attendees - these were women who basically printed labels to put on their handcrafts. But then there were the "digital Scrappers" and designers that I had seen and admired online. It was heaven. I was able to take classes to better learn my PSE and even heard a speaker about making "printed digital hardbound books" which was unheard of then. (Especially since everyone was still on dial-up or didn't even own a digital camera!) They promoted their product from the standpoint of "storybooks" but they did offer a blank "12x12" book. I was so excited - I signed up to be a consultant and sell their products. Since then - I have made more digital books, cards, posters, playing cards, and puzzles than I can count. I am not as involved in that company anymore (because of life issues) but I continue to make my digital scrapbooks.
I am a communications director for my church which means I get to do what I love - create! I create all the printed materials as well as maintain the website, social media, and now, due to the COVID crisis and having church online, I have learned how to edit videos and create animated graphics.
Outside of work, besides creating digital art and scrapbooks, I love to art journal both digital and by hand. I have upgraded from Photoshop Elements to Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Bridge (to help keep track of my digital artwork and elements.) I love learning all these programs have to offer.
I am in the Detroit area, although I have also lived in California and Colorado. I am married and have one adult daughter who also loves art and painting. We attend multiple scrapbook/quilting retreats which I find are my favorite get-aways.
