New Designer: Sharon-Dewi!

I'm excited to announce that we have a new designer joining the team at DigitalScrapbook.com! If you've been around DigitalScrapbook.com for any amount of time I'm sure you've seen the lovely layouts and blog train contributions from Sharon-Dewi, and now she'll have more to share! Here's a little bit about her that she wanted to share:

Hi, my name is Sharon-Dewi! I live in Delft, a beautiful and historic city in the Netherlands. I love to travel and take lots of photos everywhere I go, and two months age I got proposed to at my favorite place in the whole world, Disneyland! I recently finished studying Industrial Design Engineering at the Technical University of Delft and started my own design company. The focus of my study and company is primarily to design tangible, industrial products, but I've started to fall in love with graphic design more and more.

Back when I was still in high school I discovered one day that my parents never made a photo album of my baby pictures, or any pictures for that matter, which was the trigger for me to start paper scrapping. I loved this creative way of displaying memories, but often found that I spent more time getting everything out and cleaning it all up again than I actually spent scrapping.

More than 5 years ago I noticed that my grandfather had troubles remembering and shortly after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease. He began to forget more each day, which made me realize how valuable memories are and how important it is to preserve those precious moments in time. When he even began to forget the names of his wife, children and grandchildren, I decided to print out pages with photos of his main life events and of family pictures on which I could include some journaling and display everyone's names. I turned it into a book that he could always have with him whenever he got forgetful. To brighten up this book I went looking for nice background papers on the internet and fell in love with the happy patterns of Marisa. From that point on I was hooked at digital scrapbooking and DigitalScrapbook.com. I followed the change from the old blog to this new forum and saw DigitalScrapbook.com grow into a large and loving community.

In October last year I joined the Creative Team of DigitalScrapbook.com, but also tried my hand at designing by making my first blog train contribution that month. Thanks to all the lovely comments from this great community I got more and more confidence in my graphical designing skills and now designing scrapbook kits is what I love to do most every day. When Marisa invited me to become a designer at DigitalScrapbook.com it truly was a dream come true and I can’t wait to start designing even more kits for you all to enjoy!
